About the CIC AVS for Air Conditioner
The CIC AVS is an automatic voltage switch (AVS) made to protect air conditioners. It monitors the incoming voltage and disconnects the air conditioner when the supply is too high or too low.
Key Features
An AVS usually restores power after a short delay once the voltage returns to a safe level. That delay is useful because switching a compressor back on too quickly can damage it. Power surges, voltage spikes and sudden outages are common in Nigeria and are a leading cause of damaged TVs, computers and appliances. Protection devices help guard your equipment by absorbing or cutting off dangerous power before it reaches it.
Where It Fits
Typical uses include a TV and decoder corner, a home office desk, a shop counter or any place with several devices competing for sockets.
Using and Caring for It
Check the total wattage of your devices before plugging them in, avoid running heavy appliances such as heaters and irons on thin extension cords, and replace any unit that shows burn marks, a loose plug or a damaged cable.
Common Questions
Can I plug a fridge or air conditioner into it?
Only if the unit is rated for that load. Check the power rating of the device and of the extension or protector, or ask Vsonic for advice.
Does it protect against lightning?
A surge protector helps with voltage spikes, but no device can guarantee protection from a direct lightning strike. Unplug valuable equipment during storms.
